Can anyone who's ordered a Mosin M44 from them tell me whether or not the serial numbers were electropenciled or stamped on the bolt, magazine well, etc.?  How good of shape was the rifle in?

I know you asked about AIM, but I highly recommend Interordnance's handpicked mosins (if they still have them).  I bought an M38 from them and it's the best one I've ever seen.  No electropencil and no counterbore and a true m38 stock.  I'm not knocking AIM, they are really good too, but IO has sold me the best mail order rifles.

+1 on IO. I just received a handpicked M44 from them on Saturday. Its a 1946 but the condition is outstanding.

Just got one of IO's M38's and M44's . Did not handpick since they were on Christmas sale very cheap and just wanted to try them out. The M38 is a laminated one and is nice, bore is counterbored but that's really no big deal. The M44 is fantastic! Best I've seen, I already had one and planned on selling this new one unless it was great. Since it's great I'll probably keep both. Now to get more spam cans of ammo.

They say serial numbers are "forced matched"- does that mean electropenciled?  I don't want that.  Do I turn to AIM or J&G?
