Just found an AMSEC 7240 locally that I could pick up for $600. The manufacture date is 2003, it has the five spoke handle, S&G lock group, UL listed and is fire rated. Can anyone tell me the specs. on this safe? Body thickness, door plate thickness, what kind of fire resistant material they used back then, etc. If I am going to buy this I want to make sure it is fire and burgalary rated. It has some scracthes, and would probably break my basement stairs or get stuck on the way down. I think $600 is a good deal, as long as it is what I want. What to you think?

Amsec makes several different models in that size. There is no way to tell you anything or look anything up based on the info you gave. You would need to provide a model number or look at the safe and determine body thickness, door thickness, etc.........yourself. I dont know where elvia got that info, but it doesn't seem right to me. A high end safe will still sell for high end money on a private sellers market. Low end safes still sell for lw end money. You always get what you pay for.

As far as model goes this is exactly what the lable on the door has printed. Model number: 7420, manufacture date: Feb. 2003, and then the intials of the QC inspector. There is a UL label listing it as an UL approved RSC. There is a fire rating label that claims interior temp. won't surpase 350 degrees at 1275 degrees for 30 minutes. The combination dial has "cascade series" printed on it. To anyone who responds, let me be clear. I don't want to know the specs. of thier current model similiar to this. I want to know about this model, which is seven years old of course. I have an e-mail in to AMSEC but it hasn't gotten a response.
Thanks, Dan

1275 at 30 minutes is not a BF. It is probably the equivelant to the current TF series.

The bf is the only safe amsec makes in that model number, and the rating is 90 not 30. regardless....600$ is a great deal if the other measurements are the same,
