I want to build an AR Pistol, so if I understand this I dont need another stamp, I just buy a lower & register it as a pistol with my FFL, correct?
Then as long as I dont put a stock on it I can put what ever short barrel on it? |

Other than thatm you've got it. So I'm currently waiting on a stripped lower to be delievred to my FFL, when I go pick it up & do the FFL paper work I just need to say Register it as a Pistol, correct? |

No, it can be transferred to you as a "receiver / other" and you can do whatever you want with it, short of NFA stuff. No reason to transfer it as a pistol. The only exception might be in states with handgun registration, but even then I believe it's still not registered as a pistol at the time of transfer. |

You also have to build it as a pistol first, if you build it as a rifle then it will always be considered a rifle and you to get a stamp to reconfigure it as a pistol.
On the other hand, a pistol may be reconfigured back and forthe from pistol to legal length rifle at anytime without legal issue. |
