| I have been looking at the 5.7mm uppers for the AR from AR57.com my question is do you need to get a dedicated 5.7mm suppressor? like the one from gemtech or can I use my AAC M4-2000 can on it, the short version comes with a 6" barrel that is threaded 1/2x28, has anyone tried this, I would like it to fit under the rail just like the one in the pics on their website, so does shooting 5.7mm through a 223 can work |

The Spectre is a good option, as is Gemtech's G5, which was specifically designed for the P90––before you buy––I'd check with the manufacturer if THEY have & recommend using their .223 can with 5.7.
I was going to buy one particular can & the manufacturer told me up front they wouldn't be liable for baffel strikes, as it wasn't designed for the gun or cartridge. So I bought a Gemtech G5. That was before the Spectre was available, and it's on my wish list for later in 2010––it's a great can! I suspect you'd be happy with it. At least one other member posted about baffel strikes with the .223 can they bought, and I don't think it was a covered repair, as the can was designed for an AR in .223––not 5.7. I would search this forum & maybe check out Fiveseven Forums.com's NFA site linked below to see what others are running successfully. Ever since BATFE officially said a new outer tube means a new Form 4 and $200 tax, a baffel strike seems more ominous to me than I once thought. And, no, I'm not going to post the manufacturer's names mentioned above, as I don't want to be accused of bad-mouthing, or worry about legal crap, etc. So I recommend using the search function & checking 5.7 Forums to find the brand to stay away from....http://fivesevenforum.com/viewforum.php?f=17&sid=b1a801affbad361ddff21e4aa19364a7 Elite Ammo makes some great subsonic 55gr 5.7 ammo––I buy their's when I don't have time to roll my own.http://eliteammunition.com/productDisplay.php?id=EA193 Cheers! |

Gemtech made a can for the P90, but I don't think it was the G5.
Any 5.56 can should work, but it would be smart to check alignment with any can and your barrel before you shoot it. A friend of mine had his stock barrel cut off, and sent to have it threaded to be a SBR when his Form 1 was completed, and the SOT let him know that the barrel was so far out of true for concentricity that just putting an adapter on the end would almost guarentee a baffle strike. That was with the factory barrel. He ended up getting a CMMG barrel and had no issues with that on his PS90. I personally use the Spectre on my PS90 SBR, and it works great. With Elite subsonic ammo it's silly quiet. Onyx |
