I called them for the 2nd time and asked simply if my Money order was cashed? They asked for the serial number of the gun in question and after about 20 seconds was told it's not in our system. Does this mean they haven't touched my packet? Or what does it mean exactly?

I was simply trying to find out if the payment I sent had been cashed.

It normally cashes very quickly, like within a week after they receive it. Then within the next 7-30 days it goes "pending" at which time it is in the system and you can call and check on the status via serial number.

Not sure if they can tell you if the MO was cashed, they will just tell you when it is pending. I would try calling the number for whoever you used for the MO, and using their system. The USPS MO system technically has a way to see if it was cashed, but I haven't had much luck with it in the past.

Patience is key with NFA. Also, someone will be along shortly to explain better, this is just from my past experience ~4 stamps.

Why not just send a personal check?  Then you know when it gets cashed.

I used USPS and they will be happy to check on the status for a 5.00 fee

don't bother, give it 3 weeks then call again with your serial number. Honestly, I wouldn't worry unless they didn't have it in the system "pending" at ~45 days after mailing. I had one mailed last week and check was cashed by thursday. I'll call in a month to check the pending date.

It means exactly what they said. It's not in the system. Payment gets cashed quickly, and then at some point in the next 10-60 days your info is input into the system. Until that point, nobody answering the phone has a clue about your serial number. The lack of delay between payment and pending is one of the huge benefits of EForms.

Troof.

This is the purgatory shit-show portion in the timeline.  If not for sending personal checks, and seeing them deposited online at around day 12, I would never have known they cashed them.  By day 45-50 I was ready to call, and they still had no info at that time.  Mine finally went pending around day 56 IIRC.
