On Father's Day, I took my new AUG A3 out to the range for a little fun. After I sighted the Burris red dot at 50 yards, I loaded up a 30 round magazine and performed a few drills to prep for my club's upcoming carbine match. Man, I was impressed. Double taps and even triple taps were a piece of cake as this rifle has practically zero muzzle rise and pratically zero felt recoil. The trigger was surprisingly crisp and broke very cleanly. Accuracy using my cheap-o Ultramax 55 grain .223 was excellent. Swinging from one target to another took some getting used to since the center of balance is different than my Colt AR15-A3 Tactical Carbine, which I use for the carbine matches. Magazine changes were a definately not as fast as my Colt, but you guys knew that already. Although I only fired 100 rounds, the weapon had zero malfunctions. When ammos becomes more plentiful, I plan on putting a lot more rounds through her.
When I took it home to clean it, I was surprised as to how little fouling there was. However, I was surprised by one thing. And I hope you guys can help answer this for me. I noticed many nicks in the stock about two inches behind the ejection port. They looked to have been caused by the bullet casings. Has anyone else experienced this with their AUGs? |

It is common put tape or better yet Velcro to protect the stock. It is a tool, the stock does not need velcro...
But you better put the velcro in the same place so you can protect the brass for...reloading....yes reloading purposes, that's it.
Just so we are clear, I was joking. |
