I have an early 90's AWC .223 Optima suppressor and I was reading the instructions. It does state that it is rated for full auto use. I don't recall really shooting FA thru it in the past. While I'm ready to purchase a new (updated) can for my 16, just wondering if anyone has one of these older cans and has shot FA and if the can is still in good shape?

That can is probably made of all 300-series stainless. It will hold up to full auto in that it won't explode, but you will see dramatically faster baffle erosion compared to a modern silencer using Inconel or stellite baffles. Old AWC cans are built like a brick shithouse though. Since they aren't the greatest performers and are quite heavy, I would say blast with it til it's worn out and then get something new.

Yeah man, just wear it out on the 16 and then ditch it for the latest whiz-bang can.

If the can weighs 28 or 32 ounces like they used to you probably won't be able to wear it out on an M16.  The weight alone makes it pretty much tank like in construction.
