| Read this in a EE ad... I was planning on building this gun into a SBR to use with my suppressor but due to the recent ATF rulling I can no longer get a 3 lug adapter. Did I miss something recently? It is for a 9mm upper. |
| The 3-lug adapter is not simply a suppressor mount, and HK never intended for it to be used for suppressors. Their intent was for their flash hider and their blank-firing adapter. Not only HK, but we at Gemtech still make a really good flash hider for the MP5 that mounts only on their 3-lug adapter. All the 3-lug adapter manufacturers are still making and selling them. Worry when you see a notice on ATF's web site. That is the only reliable answer to internet rumors. |

It is for a 9mm upper. YHM is selling their QD Flash Hider, but is currently out of stock on the 556 and 762. I have seen a letter floating around here to YHM from the ATF ruling that the hider is not a part of the suppressor. D |

I was all set to buy a couple YHM cans but they told me they would not sell any additional mounts other than the ONE I bought it with. I wanted to use the Phantom 7.62 on my AR's, and the .45 Cobra M2 on my 9mm's... Here's the email I got from YHM (8/27/09): Sir, Thank you for your interest in our products. Yes, you can use the .45 Cobra M2 on a .45 or anything smaller such as a .40 or 9mm. You would need the threaded piston in .578X28 for the .45's you mentioned. The 9mm's includeing the AR15 in 9mm would use a 1/2X28 piston. You would also need a fixed barrel adapter when shooting on the 9mm AR. Unfortunately we have been instructed by management not to sell mounts at this time, we are awaiting a final determination from the ATF in this matter. Once we hear back, if we can sell them again, then you can order the threaded pistons right off our website. Stay tuned to our website and as soon as we have more information we will let it be known. The piston mounts are the "evil" silencer parts (any silencer part = silencer, which is why you can't buy extra baffles, tubes, etc). Theoretically. YHM seems to be alone in being singled out at the moment. The flash hiders are just that; flash hiders. I dropped the paperwork for a 7.62 Phantom right before the "Great AR15.com YHM flash hider scare of 2009" and my local dealer was able to order extra flash hiders for me in the couple weeks that thread was running. Even last week, he got an AK 14x1LH flash hider for me and stuck it in the box with the can so it'll be ready for pickup. |
