So, I'm an Illinois resident. Due to a recent change in the law, C&R FFL holders were able to build an SBR. I sent in a Form 1 on a Trust, along w/ my C&R license and form and all necessary paperwork as I had read on here and another forum that a few people had successfully gotten their stamp by doing so.....Then a few months ago, the ATF decided to not issue any more stamps to individuals going this route, they had to send in the form 1 as an individual, as a Trust cannot hold an FFL.....

But..I already got my lower receiver engraved before I mailed off my Form 1 on a trust (as to make sure it wasn't lost in shipping).

So now, I have a lower receiver with "John Doe NFA Trust" on it, that I'm wanting to build on an Individual Form 1....

What should I do?

Send in the new Form 1 and wait for approval before you engrave the lower again. Have the engraver strike-through the old mark?

Just engrave your name also on the receiver.

Definitely wouldn't worry about striking through the old. You can engrave your name a dozen different ways in a dozen different places...just as long as one of them matches your paperwork.

Most lowers have multiple available places to engrave. Above right side trigger pins, right side magwell, front of magwell (unless it's textured/ridged like my Seekins), under trigger guard (unless non-removable).

Technically my name is engraved....it just has NFA Trust behind it. Might look bad, but is there any way to fill in an engraving and paint over it?

This. Focus on what matters, and that's ensuring the correct information is engraved on the lower. It doesn't really matter what else is on there.
