The wife is going to get me a new gun since she got a new higher paying job. I know wife get a raise I get a new gun , I got lucky. The only catch is she is only giving me a 1000 to play with. So here's the question. What rifle should I get? I have a bunch of Ar-15's and Ak's I have a good bolt gun. I'm looking for a semi possible a MP5 clone, I'd love to get a Magpul masada, or even a fn fs2000. So what you you guys get. |

i like the Masada and will be picking one up when availible but until its availible its really not an option. me personaly i bought a sig556 and fs2000 this week, and will be buying all the rest of the new rifles as soon as the hit the market. since i was too young for the last two bans(MG and AW ban) I am not taking a chance and waiting on somthing that may or may not meterialize for some BS politica reason. if you have an extra AR or AK i would take the 1000 bucks and trade the extra rifle towards the FS2000. hell worst case scenario, dump it as soon as a masada comes out |

Seeing as how the Magpul Masada isn't available for sale currently and no release date has been announced by Magpul that takes that rifle off the table for your consideration. You will be unable to purchase an FS2000 new for $1,500.00 although you may be able to purchase one used at that price. The MP5 is a pistol caliber semi-auto subgun and HK doesn't even manufacture them anymore so why buy a clone? Most LEOs have switch from use of the MP5 to AR rifles chambered in 5.56x45mm. With your budget I would look closely at the Robinson Arms XCR Light 5.56 carbine, which is available for a little under $1,300.00 at various internet retailers. The Robinson XCR like the Masada is modular, but unlike the Masada is available now for purchase and already has their 6.8 SPC conversion available with the 7.62x39mm conversion to follow shortly. |

If you don't have an HK and absolutely have to have one, I'd go for the 93 clone. My 93 is 3 inches longer than my MP5, and it shoots 223! 9mm carbines just seem to be a waste to me. Personally, The V53 doesn't do anything My M16 doesn't do better. Want to shoot heavier bullets? The HK needs a different locking piece. My fingers are to stubby to manipulate the HK controls without breaking my master grip. The AR family is cleaner. The HK is nice, I just like my AR types better, a matter of degrees. I've never shot a closed bolt Uzi, so I don't know how they are in semi. I've heard bad things about the FN. Another thing to remember is magazine cost. I have learned this lesson the hard way. Maybe a classic bolt gun, 1903, Enfield, Mauser. M1s can still be had for under a grand. A carbine with all the fixins would come in under that also. Then there's silencers. A good 22 can is worth tripple it's weight in fun. |

I picked Masada BUT only because you didn't have a PS90 on the list. I never really liked the FS2000 but when the MASADA came out; I was FS2?? what uh?? BUT the guys who tell you to get ammo think about that. REMEMBER ammo cheap get ammo, mags cheap get mags. If you already have a bunch of mags get ammo. |

Silencer is a great idea as well as loading up on ammo. I don't have a ps90 on the list not because I don't like them, I fell in love with the little thing the first time I so it in Stargate Sg1. Ammo for it seems over priced right now compared to 9mm and 223. So that's why I never gave it a place on the list. I might get a vector semi Uzi and a silencer for it. |

Range toy or something that is more "SHTF even though I already own 5, another one won't hurt" kind of gun? Vector makes an excellent UZI, Highly recommended, a front pistol grip, side charging handle, 3 extra mags and a wood stock make it look completely awesome and attracts open mouthed onlookers here Masada also sounds good, but its not out as mentioned above... |

V93 is a nice rifle, but I'm into more modern designs. The HK clones don't do it for me any more. V93 Pros: nice build/finish several stock options reliable (I've never had a failure) V93 Cons: Mags are expensive and hard to find. 40 rounder will run upwards of $60. No rail system for mounting optics etc. No bolt catch Masada would be my choice if it was available. I like the XCR and would recommend you consider it. |

Picked up a green FS2000 very lightly used (200 rounds) with nice sling for $1570 + shipping a few days ago. You just have to be in the right place at the right time and have cash on hand!! I don't think they will get any lower though. Did I mention I LOVE this firearm? I am looking at the TPD AUG copy when it comes out and wanting to get an XCR and a PS90 now also. |
