I've been paying Google Adwords about $200 per month to bump my business in web searches. My search keywords are all about the pawnshop, gold buying aspects of my business. I don't push the gun part at all on Google Adwords.
Yesterday, I got final notice from them that they are disallowing my ad. No more Google Adwords. Their reason: because I sell guns. Fuck Google. But, here's my question: Have any of you had much luck with Yahoo, Bing, etc. Is it worth spending some coin with any of the other search engines or is Google so dominant that it's pointless to look elsewhere? BTW, here's a little something from the NSSF on the Google situation: http://www.nssfblog.com/googles-anti-gun-policy/ |

I stopped using Google a long time ago for my searches. Have been using www.duckduckgo.com
On a side note. Can't you file a lawsuit for discrimination? The "private business" does not fly. That bakery case against the gays is an example. Since they offer that service they cannot discriminate. |

Since they offer that service they cannot discriminate. I'm assuming that that the NSSF has weighed that option. Honestly, I can't afford to take on Goliath. Instead, I send my measly $40 to the National Shooting Sports Foundation and let them do the heavy lifting. |
Several years ago I posted a silly homemade video on youtube and Google contacted me about using it. I thought it was a scam at first but I did the paperwork and started getting a check every month for a long time!! Then they sent me an email and said they were stopping that and the checks stopped coming.........

Was told we could only advertise if we used the sporting goods angle and had no pictures of guns on our website. |
