I'm wanting to put together a sbr in 300blk. I would like to use an 8 inch barrel with my aac cyclone but not sure if I can do so. Does anyone have any experience with this setup shooting supers and subs? I can't find anything in my user manual about minimum barrel length. Thanks

If you contact them they will tell you warranty says 10" minimum.  They have a history of not denying anything and most people are running them on 8-9" 300blk since that is what most everyone chooses as a barrel length.

Good luck getting ahold of them. I sat in hold for 30 minutes and when it went through, voice-mail was full so I couldn't leave a message. Won't return emails either.

I was trying to figure out if my cyclone k was rated for a 556 sbr and if it was, what barrel length.

Thanks for the replies. I sent an email over a week ago and have yet to here back from aac. Thanks again for the replies

All of AAC except for one person is at SHOT Show this week and dealer/distributor shows for most of January. That's why it's so hard to get it touch with somebody. Email [email protected] and he will help you.

Cyclones are not rated for 5.56 ever.

You have documentation of that?  Because it sounds like utter BS and I've never seen it said by an AAC employee.  A can that can take .308 can take 5.56 at the same rate of fire. Some of AAC's 5.56 cans were built similarly when the Cyclone Mod 08 was released (Inconel blast baffle, 17-4 remainder, all cones).

He's right. Cyclone on a 5.56 gun is a no go.

Even though the 5.56 cans had a similar baffle composition, the Cyclone is still built differently. It is a precision rifle 7.62 silencer built for shooting 7.62 rounds.

I have a Cyclone K and run it on my 8" .300BLK.  Supersonics sound good, and Subs sound great.

So any hard evidence? Still can't get ahold of aac. I'll never buy a can from them based solely on their customer service.

Do whatever you want man. It's not rated for 5.56 -never was and never will be. I can show you all sorts of dumb shit people do on the Internet, doesn't mean it's what the manufacturer covers under warranty.

Then again I'm sure you're sitting around with a one of a kind 7.5" 5.56 barrel threaded 5/8-24 all ready to assemble the worst idea ever.

I am shocked that it is not rated for 223. I use it for 300 blackout solely, but would have never hesitated on using it on a 223 until reading this post. It is on my 10.3" blackout and it is great for that purpose. A bit heavy for longer barrels though.

I don't know who you are so why am I supposed to take your word for it? A couple guys posted that you might have worked for aac so if you did, SHOW ME where it says it. Show me some specs, show me any kind of proof aac says don't use this can on a 556. If you're right, you're right but I want a little more evidence than, no because I said so and I'm going to act like a big shot. If aac had decent custom service, this problem wouldn't be an issue. No one can seem to answer a damn phone.

And your last comment is about as durptastic as some of the worst I have seen on here.

Lol.  Like hippy kicker said.  Go head and mount it up.  It is your can after all, not ours.

Why does everything have to be PROVEN?

There are lots of combinations in this world that WORK....... right up to the point that they DON'T anymore..  (with firearms that can be a devastating turn of events)

If you get a reference like "two people said he USED to work for AAC", why is that not enough for you?

If AAC says that their suppressors are only warranted down to 10" why would you put it on something shorter?

I own a Cyclone. The documentation mention nothing about use on 5.56 rifles. Yes, it is a "precision" rifle silencer. It was not "intended" for use on AR-15s.  But "Not intended" is different from "Not rated".  As I noted before, this thread is the first time I have ever heard of this "no 5.56" rule, and I have never seen or heard it said by an AAC employee. It may wear out faster if you use it on a semi-auto AR but you aren't going to blow up a can rated for .308+ pressures on a 5.56 unless you're blasting back to back mag dumps. The only difference between the baffle stack in a Cyclone and in a M4-1000 Mod 08 (other than number of baffles) is that the 5.56 can has step-cuts in the baffles and the Cyclone doesn't to improve precision. Otherwise they use the same construction and same materials.
