My interest in them is building, so I have a few questions. 1. What type of kit is used? 2. What is the average condition of the kits used, in your opinion? 3. Any reason why those kits were chosen? 4. What other differences is there between it and the other kits available? G1, STG-58, R1, Imbel, etc.. 5. Can you offer a breakdown of build option prices? 6. Do you grind the locking shoulders or use the correct ones? 7. How the hell can you guys find time to do all this stuff in a prompt manner? SEAK, 1919s, FALs, HKs.....? 8. What would I have to do to trade this FAL: Entreprise STG-58C Target for one like this from ORF: ![]() available here. |

I know you are actually asking ORF to reply to the questions above. In case you have nothing better to read, here are some email exchanges I had with ORF to address some of your questions above. Email Todd of ORF. He usually gets back to you with answers quickly. FWIW, my ORF FAL based on the G1 kit was every bit as accurate as my other FAL built by a different builder using an Austrian STG kit. Todd must have done a better job of preparing the kit before it got parked because the G1 kit FAL was superior cosmatically compared to the STG kit FAL. I see none of the dings that Todd warned me about the G1 or Imbel kits after he refinished it. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] Sent: Friday, October 24, 2003 9:39 PM Subject: Re: FAL Build Quote In a message dated 10/24/03 4:48:20 PM Eastern Daylight Time, orangeneck writes: <<On your web site, you advertise carbines starts out at $700. I know I requested the FSE FCG, DSA short brake, and trigger pull set to 4.5# to 5#.>> On the gun, I quoted a gun based on a STG (Austrian kit, costs to me $295) The guns I build as my standard rifles are Imbel based kits, bought price $95. Difference in costs. I can use a G1 kit and make you a lookalike STG if you want me to quote one of them for you. Geeze, tough call there. It has the potential, they have better bores. How do the rest of the kits compare such as the lower receiver and other small components? Is the STG better all around or just better barrel?>> Yes the STG kits are pretty much new. The Imbels have wear but are not wore out. Dings here and there where the STG is all sharp. |

Guys, Right now FALs that are being built in the shop are all based from G1 kits. The bores are good to exc. Any gun has choice of stock colors, black, cream, light tan (neat), and green (kinda a dark green, not like DSAs X series green, darker than that, kinda greyish) Also you can choose muzzle devices. We stock, DSA short breaks, DSA SA58 (6 hole), Tapco STG, and DSA short STG (like on the one in the pic). All guns are built on Imbel metric receivers, ship in a hardcase, with one 20 rd mag, and owners manual. I know my site does not say all that so it is best to email me to get full details on what your after. I do have some nice STG58 rifles I will be doing here in the next few weeks, they will be $799.95. All match #s, bores as new. They will be some real sharp rifles. Only doing 10. Yeah I know where do we get the time to do all this stuff. It is hard sometimes and I really appreciate guys that are patient when we run over on builds. We work everyday here! Thanks Todd@ORF [email protected] (best way to get me) |
| I will tell ya I have built a FAL or two in my day and it looks like ORF is really performing a hell of a service. Put it this way, I think this is why Entreprise had to drop their garbage rifles to $599 this summer. Who wants that when you can get a FAL on an Imbel for such a deal? I only use DSA or Imbel receivers and as much as I absolutely love DSA I have moved more towards Imbel receivers lately. They are cheaper and just as good. My question is....would the good gentlemen at ORF barrel and headspace two Imbel receivers to STG barrels for me? |

me223, on th EE, works with ORF. I'm sure he can take care of you, but the ORF guys are very busy putting together the rigs for the arfcom SEAK group buy. |
You got any kits you're willing to part with? Just the kit. Also, I'm not interested in kits that have been neutered by removing the muzzle accessory lug, nor rifles that have been neutered the same way. Please IM me with response. Thanks. |
