I have a 14.5" build that is pinned a welded. I am going to change the flash hider to the new Dead Air model when it is released. I am thinking about having the new flash hider pinned and welded also. How important is it to have an adjustable gas block on a suppressed mid- length? If I had to I would add one before the new weld is done.
How difficult is it to tune a suppressed a 14.5" with out an adjustable gas block? I know, I know, I should just SBR the rifle and not worry about having to meet the minimum length requirement. It is an option I am entertaining I'm just not sure of the direction I am headed right now. |

If you're not sure, to me that's an even stronger reason to SBR your rifle.
That way, you can explore all kinds of options without going through the BS of pinning and welding only to have to go through it all over if it's not to your liking. And yes, having a quality adjustable gas block just makes whatever tuning you need to do that much simpler and easier. In the long run, it's probably cheaper, too, due to not having to keep buying and swapping components to find something that works. |

Depends on your gas port size and the ammunition you are shooting as well as your tolerance for gas to the face. You can go cheap with a Baby Govnah with a custom port size, something adjustable like an SLR gas block or something like the Govnah which has plates to switch between suppressed and unsuppressed shooting. |

The gem tech suppressed bolt carrier is an option too. I have one in my 11.5"/trek combo. Can is silver soldered and I like the fixed front site so the carrier is my best option for that gun. Shoots much better now, less gas in face.
I'm getting an Anderson adjustable for my 308 |
