| The insides of my cases have the red residue from the walnut tumbling media. After I deprime them should I wash them real good or does it not matter? |
|
Are you using Lyman treated media?
If so, all that crap has to come out. Plain untreated walnut may leave dust, but Lyman media is horrible for leaving a mess. Control the dust from plain walnut with a dryer sheet added in the tumbler every two or three loads of brass. |

If you have a bunch of dirty cases, or a bunch with red residue inside you'd like to get out, try washing them in Orange Blast. Mix it about 4 to 1. I use the hottest water out of the tap and stir the casings around for a couple of minutes, then let them soak for a couple of minutes. Drain them and lay them out on a old towel over night. They will be clean inside and out.
Works for me. |

As above, if you are using the Lyman treated with red rouge, THROW IT OUT. It is the only thing worse than Hornady One Shot for reloading. There's something WORSE than ONE SHOT out there?
Oh wait! One shot sucks because we don't know how to use it correctly. |

Back on track, as dryflash has suggested, washing/soaking overnight in a Lemishine solution (about a tablespoon per quart would be great) should get rid of the gunk.
Is that red stuff jeweler's rouge? Dumb to put it in brass polishing media-it's way to harsh anyway. |

So today I went to local pet store and got some lizard litter. I added a cap full of Nu Finish car polish and started the tumbler.
An hour later they look fantastic. More shine to than with the Lyman tufnut. I will continue to use the lyman but I will use it first them tumble with the lizard litter for the super shine. Thanks for the advice on the lizard litter fellas... |

Hell I even use a homemade case lube. The only time I have ever had a stuck case was with Lyman Case Lube. That shit is junk. But this thread isnt about fucking case lube. |

One shot is bad???!!! I got my first bottle of it, sprayed up 50-60 rds, let them dry and wow, it is by far the best lube I have tried, granted I've only tried a few. I've used lee and alcohol based cabela's lube and made my own with lee lube diluted in denatured alcohol. One shot is all I will use from now on, sizing had never been smoother and trouble free. |
