I'm sure this has been done but I couldn't find anything in the archives so...

Is there a (legal) limit on how much ammo one may keep on hand?
4/26/2002 7:09:53 PM EDT
[#1]
If there is i will buy enough to go just over the limit.

just as a matter of principle
4/26/2002 7:15:01 PM EDT
[#2]
That's why I'm asking. If there's a limit, I'm sure I'm over it, I'd just like to know how far over.
4/26/2002 7:15:01 PM EDT
[#3]
Not that I am aware of.
4/26/2002 7:17:23 PM EDT

Never heard of one.

I'm not sure if i trust you.

with all that ammo, and a name like "canthitshit", i don't want to be your neighbor.

I thought about 'SprayAndPray' but that would draw too much attention from official quarters.

I think I remember in NY they have a 100,000 round limit.

Hey 12_15_20_2_15_25,

Curiosity demands I ask, is that your lotto numbers or some such?

I carry 11 mags full in my car with me at all times. 1 in my rifle, 4 in a thigh ride, 6 in my tac-vest. My car is where I have my SHTF kit.

11x30=330 rds. in SHTF kit

I've heard that in Florida, if you have over 10,000 rounds, then you are classified as an armory!  I don't know exactly what the would mean, but that's what I've heard.

I buy a lot, load a lot, but shoot a lot also, so it isn't stored. Just kind of stops here for a short time before I send it down range. Like most things you use a lot of it usually saves you $ to buy ammo in large bulk amounts.

The numbers are linked to letters in the alphabet.  it spells LotBoy.  His Lotboy sign on was yanked AGAIN by the egomaniac, DonR.

Actually, my employer gives me taxpayer purchased ammo to shoot. My employer also provides a vehicle, so that is where I store the ammo. I keep a few hundred for contingencies. The rest is just stuff I haven't gotten around to shooting yet. I don't keep any issued ammo in my house, but I do have plenty moe of my own personal ammunition.

This question has been asked before. It turned into a contest of sorts. Eric the Ammoman won with a hundred zillion rounds.

If you actually know how many rounds of each caliber you have, you don't have near enough.

Not enough ammo, but now I may have to go down and check. My minimum is 1000 rounds per gun.

I keep about a thousand for each gun .223/5.56, 9mm, 45acp, 12ga, 22lr

The limit here in Canada is 225Kg. Thats about 500Lbs.

It probably varies from state to state. i think here in NY we're limited to 1000 rds PER CALIBRE. IE. I can have 1000 rds of .223 and 1000 rds of 9mm.

I don't own any guns nor do I store any ammo.  I don't know what you're talking about...

IIRC the 10,000 round limit is per DOT regulations. There was a gun store some months back that got their inventory confiscated by some overzealous DOT agent for not having the proper permits.

Since the last fun show, I have increased my ammo inventory to:

100 rounds of Remington 158gr SWCHP .38 +P
100 rounds of eley .22lr

Oh yes and an extended life battery for a cell phone with 911 on autodial, if and when I can afford one.

hey imbro, all you need now is 3 MREs a 2ltr bottle of spring water and a cute little day pack and youd be already for The S to hit the Fan HAHAHAHA

Hmmmm....I really don't know how much of each caliber I have.  I know that I have several full ammo cans of various calibers.  Maybe I should count them.

1,2,3,4,5,6,7......1000, 1001,1002,5000...Okay forget that..hehe

There was talk about imposing a limit here in Illinois.  It's a good thing that's as far as it got because they wanted to include primers in the ammo count.

Pushing the limits of reason as you are, I think you should change the autodial to a good atty's number, you know what 911 will bring!!!
