| Where do you guys get your ammo? I'm tired of going to walmart, is there a good place on the internet that's cheaper? I'm just lookin for skeet/trapshooting loads, not buckshot.... thanks! |

sportsman warehouse pretty much all the biggies have deals occasionally and most of them give case discounts (a flat, 10 boxes, technically not a case, but same thing) or, if you shoot a lot, start reloading, for skeet/trap/sporting clays, with it's high volume same shot, we do a lot of reloading. Nice wimpy 1oz loads. |
I've got $100 worth on the way (65 boxes; 325 rounds). Be sure and use the $10 off $99 or more order coupon. The code is SPG2479 Bought a Choate mag extension while I was at it as well. This Estate stuff looks to be star crimped, so it won't reduce my mag capacity by 1 like the imported roll crimped budget buck shot does. The deal doesn't say "Hurry limited quantities", so hopefully this will be around a while. Once I get my first order and test it out, I may order more if it is good stuff. |
Yeah, but it's unbelievably expensive to have shotgun ammo shipped to, esp in high volume quantities. A 1000 rounds of shotgun shells weighs a LOT more than a 1000 rounds of .308 for example. |

Looks like the Estate stuff dried up. It's no longer listed on SG's site. That was a hell of a deal for buckshot, hopefully we'll see some more of that stuff pop up before hunting season's over. Anyone try that Remington Managed Recoil 00 Buck they have for around $3.00/box? I shot some a couple of weeks ago, and I like it much(and my shoulder does, too!). I figure it's a good "round the house" round, since it's only supposed to be good out to 40 yds or so. Easier follow-up shots, too. It almost kicks like a skeet load. |
Crap, should have ordered more. ETA: This is the best deal going now. www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=293300 It's about the same price as the Estate, but it's roll crimped, so it will reduce capacity by one on your extended mag shotguns. I've heard it's OK stuff. It has 12 00 pellets in a 2 3/4 in. shell, which is interesting. Sellier & Bellot does the same thing. Dayum, that Estate stuff went fast. My guess is some people probably ordered over a thousand rounds of that stuff. At that price, who can blame them I guess. ETA2: Just noticed the Estate stuff was high velocity. 1330 FPS. That's going to pack quite a punch, on both ends. If anyone is still interested in Estate buckshot, Cabelas sells it for $100/250. That is $2 a box, which is $0.40 more a box than what SG had, but it is still pretty cheap. You can order 00 BK or #4 BK. You get a "Dry Box" with it, which Cabelas ships with all hteir cased ammo. Link- Estate 00 buck/ #4 buck from Cabela's I feel bad that Gunny didn't get in on the deal. Thanks for your service! |
