It is far more complicated than a single link could provide. It took me months of research, and multiple attempts before I was successful. For those familiar with anodizing, I used approximately 18% sulfuric acid bath, with approximately 5.5 g/L of dissolved AL.  I used 6063-T5 cathodes, aluminum hanging wire, approximately 12 amps/sqft, followed the 720 rule and anodizing for about 60 minutes, and used BK Excel black anodizing die. I also sealed using boiling water rather than the nickel acetate sealer, since it was just a test piece.

There WAS a GREAT tutorial on AR15.com around 2001 in the Build It Yourself Forum. You can't find it in the archives though.

Back during that timeframe there were quite a few 80% lowers being completed and there was a lot of demand to finish them.
