I want to start loading for my AR using 75gr and 77gr bullets. I haven't seen any of these with cannelures on them yet. Are there any out there? If not, is it necessary to crimp these bullets for use in an AR? Can you crimp a non cannelured bullet? Sorry if these are dumb questions but I really don't know. Never crimped any other calibers I reload. Thanks for any help / advice offered.

I know Sierra makes a 77gr w/ cannelure. Crimping isn't really necessary unless it's for SHTF or full auto. Some rifles seem to shoot better with a slight crimp even on non-cannelured, but it's not my preference.
ETA: I just looked on their site and can't find it. I'm guessing it's temporarily discontinued? |

Midway is now showing Hornady 75 grain HPBT match bullets with cannelure on their website listed as a new product. Looks in the picture to possibly be the same style used in their TAP G2 line of ammo. You may want to look into this.
Actually a bit surprised someone here hasn't mentioned these yet. |

Thanks Dieselman for the tip on the bullets from Midway, just ordered some. I also ordered the Lee .223 4 die set; seater, full length resizer, collet neck sizer, and crimp die. Not sure what a taper crimp is. Steve4102 said to avoid the taper crimp feature in the seater die. What is this and does the Lee seater have this in it? If so how do you disable it? Thanks
