| I have read the directions in the sticky, but there is still a lingering question I need to ask. In block 4.e it asks for barrel length and 4.f overall length. In block 4.h it list additional details. I read the directions and it said that I can put in additional infomration such as different barrels that I will be using. I plan on using a 10.5 and 11.5 barrels. Should I put both of these in block 4.h? If I do then what do I put in block 4.e and 4.h? I know some will say it does not matter as long as you can convert it back. What I am going to do is try each of the barrels and find out which one I like better. The one I don't like will be given to an associate and they will then make and SBR on that barrel. Does this make sense? Also if I do this and no longer have the barrel will that violate my tax stamp? thanks... |

From everything I've read, the ATF doesn't seem to like to approve addtional barrel lengths and calibers anymore. At one time they were approving them. I would send it in with the barrel length and OAL of whichever barrel you think you would most likely use. I would assume it would be the 10.5" as long as it ran correctly, and the 11.5" if it didn't. If you decided to keep a different one than you put on the form, send in a written notice to the ATF that the barrel length and OAL has permanently changed and you will be just fine. It will be ammended in the registry and you'll be GTG. The consensus seems to be that you can change lengths and calibers at will as long as retain the ability to return the rifle to the original approved configuration. If you decide to sell that original upper and change length or caliber permanently, written notice is sufficient to cover you. Your tax stamp won't be in violation. |

I did a P-416 last year and Examiner Santamaria sent the Form 1 back to me. I called her up and she said to put the additional calibers in 4h which I did.
I just sent out a Spikes lower last week and put the additional calibers in 4h again. I just had a Mini-Uzi done with multi calibers in the caliber box. It went through as submitted. |
