Hydrographics is the process where the gun (or other object) is dipped in a liquid tank, and it comes out with a photograph like finish ie looks like Mossy Oak or whatever.

The place I had book marked for ages apparently went out of business, anyone know a place still in business?

Actually Gander Mountain contracts it out, but I'd rather not monkey around with the middle man.www.gandermountain.com/gunsmithing/services_finishes.asp

After google searching for a little while, I came up w/ a few names, but I didn't check to see if they were still in business or not.

Jim Crumley:
www.camoent.com/

This website works, too:
www.watertransferprinting.com/

This place was listed, but the website didn't exist:
K & D Gunsmithing and Camouflaging
708 12th Street S.E.
Cochran, GA 31014
478-934-4647
We use Hydrographics or the dipping process to camouflage aftermarket firearms and accessories.

Hope this helps you out. Seems like a worthwhile and nice process to do to your guns.

Thanks Dave.

I found this place also.

www.dynamicfinishes.com/

I had know about a placed called "Camo-It" near Waco, but there old webpage seems to redirect to another business now.

The finish is similar to the outercoating on a car, as far as durability, not sure how it would hold up over time. I am still plotting my mossy oak AR though.

You're welcome.

The Camo-It place redirects to the "www.watertransferprinting.com" place listed above. They were probably either sold or bought out or something.

Another idea would be to call your local/favorite gunsmith. He might know of a place to use, too.

My gunsmith carves every wooden stock he can get his hands on into acorns and little birds, like you see on cuckoo clocks, he makes me nervous sometimes...
