I used to own a couple of these. It's a Cold Steel Shinobu, one of their older folders (say around mid to late 80's). The blade is a layered laminate of San Mai steel and was very well made. The trend now is for tactical folders that can be opened with one hand, but I'd buy another of these if I could. Of course tanto blades aren't popular with everyone, but these were very nice knives. Nice find. ETA: These were made in a number of sizes, with one size even being around 2" closed. IIRC, it was marketed as being useful to hang off a man's briefcase. Those were the days. Another ETA: I looked over at bladeforums and found this thread that discusses Shinobu's. |
