this one was just for fun.  it was inspired by the new Riddick flick coming later this year.  my son and i are big sci-fi movie buffs.  this big fella is 10" and from forged 1084 with a sabre grind.  it wears our frosted Crime Scene finish and mild steel scales.  they have been properly battered and wear a very dark ferric chloride etch.  we wanted them to look like scavenged scrap that had been repurposed.  fun build.

Very cool.
Love the Riddick/Pitch Black movies.
I'd say you hit the mark in the looks dept.

Random question. Is that one of the sairon belts? If so, how do you like them and have you had problems with less than perfect cuts/taping giving a wobble effect?

thanks.  yeah, i am a full time knife maker.  and about the belt, i am not sure the brand, but they do have a bit of wobble.  i bought two and they both give a bit trouble.  i just use them for shaping and whatnot now.  won't buy again.  favorite all around is the norton blue blaze.  they give consistent good results for me.  my go to belt.

The color looks a lot like the Sairon belts Pop's has. I got one 36 and one 60, haven't tried the 36 but the 60 had some significant wobble but tracked fine. I'm using it the same way you are and assuming the 36 is similar... I may buy more, we'll see. The price is pretty good and I may just get the 36's for use in profiling since those are the most expensive with the good belts.
I'm new to the variety available in 2x72 but finding that I like the 976 cubitron's pretty well, along with 707JE's for plunges. About the only belts from my 2x42 days I'm still using are the gators.
