| Which one would be best suited for Eastern Woodlands area of the U.S.? |

Quoted:
I would have to say MultiCam; possibly the new ATAC FG (green). Normal ATACS is very grey/dark; has too much almost-black for most environs IMO. I agree 100% Between those choices multicam or ATACS FG will be your best options. The regular ATACS is more for arid environments. |
| I use both here in KS. Multicam works great in central and eastern KS during the spring and summer. A-tacs works great in western KS and in the eastern part during the fall and winter. And for what its worth, I do NOT believe A-tacs to be too dark. It is a fantastic pattern in everything from CRP grass, wheat stubble, sage pastures, and winter woodlots. Having said all that, in deeper timber back in the eastern US, multicam would probably be a better choice for you. |

Mulitcam for sure. I'm in the process of transitioning from ACU and ranger green stuff to multicam. My med bags (CLS and medic bag) will likely stay ACU, as will my OTV unless I run across a good deal on an IOTV, a BCS carrier (most likely option), or a upgrade my armor setup to a high grade BALCS (or maybe prorietary like cyre's) armor/plate carrier. I like my OTV though for the most part and apart from some fading of the ink on the labels of the inserts its in very good condition (with most of the accesories new) so I can't really justify dropping a crap ton to replace it. Clothing, pouches, some armor accesories like helmet cover, camel back, etc are going multicam though (except maybe a pack in acu).
Don't mean to hijack the thread, but does anyone know where to find a Crye multicam ACH/MICH cover? The one with the pouch on the back. |

ATACS FG looks like it would be better in the woods. Is that Available yet? Other than the FG the MultiCam would be best. I actually would have to say that regular ATACS is way too light for the woods. Ive recently been switching everything from tan and ACU to MultiCam and Ranger green.
Also to the person who said hes keeping his OTV and pouches ACU, I wouldnt. In the Army durring any type of FTX or anything in the woods everything ACU like glowed. That stuff is crap. You should consider either Ritz dyeing it or paint. My Sgt was a Ranger Sniper and he got fed up and spray painted his PC and pouches. It turned out really well after a couple of days for the paint smell to go away. |

I live in AZ. A-TACS works here. So does 3 color tan. Then again, I have lived in the desert for the last 30 years, since I got out of the army. I had no issues with BDU and woodland. Personally, I think multicam looks like ass. I have friends who wear it all the time and it gets dirty quickly, after it wears it looks too faded and I think it sticks out too much in other environments. My opinion and it's worth every penny you paid me for it! I think the army is nuts for not not going with A-TACS. I'm ordering up some webbing and material this week to make gear. |
