Would love to have one of new 9mm conversions but its hard to shell out that much for it - 1350.00.  I have a brand new A3 - if I made the coversion permanently would the original parts net me back anything significant?

Thanks

The barrel and bolt carrier group are the parts that you would swap out.  In like-new condition, those two parts would probably get you back 70-80% or so of the cost of the conversion kit it you could find someone that would want them.
The kits are heavily backordered so getting one any time soon may be the bigger problem.

They were only $899 at AIM the other day.

Got a link on that one?  I'm on their mailing list, didn't see anything there, nor am I finding anything AUG on their site.. ??

Pretty sure he's confusing it with the Tavor 9mm kit.

Those are the Tavor not the AUG conversions.

I wish more (any?) manufacturers would produce a factory 9mm rifle instead of requiring a conversion.

I'd be nice to be able to buy a 9mm AUG or Tavor.  Not a fan of swapping calibers, particularly for another 50%+ of the original rifle cost.

899 must have been the Tavor. 1350 was on the backorder list.  I would do it if I knew I could get the 700 out of the conversion parts like you thought might be the case.

No need for a shoulder fired 9mm pistol
I have a $500 Glock that shoots 9mm just fine

My AUG is 5,56mm

And unlike the above pic, there isn't any silly NFA paperwork to deal with AND you get better ballistics from the 16" barrel ;)

Actually you get worse ballistics from a 16" barrel 9MM has full powder burn in under 10" of barrel after that the friction of the barrel is greater than the  force of the expanding gases so you lose velocity

I'll just stick to the UZI SBR I am building, mags are cheap

I've heard this batted around and I'm not disagreeing but just curious if anyone can link to data showing this effect?  I don't have any 10" 9mm to compare, but I can say there's a clear velocity improvement from a 16" vs a 4-5" (visible in expansion of hollowpoints - no chrony here).

TIA,
Richard

I shot mine for the first time yesterday.  Worked perfectly and once I got the red dot sighted in, I shot 100 rounds that tore a single hole about the size of the end of a beer can in the target at 75 feet, offhand without a rest.  For shooting it the first time, I thought that was pretty good and my fears about the reliability of the conversion vanished.

Interesting feeling to the action also and I think you get more of a chance to feel the movement of the mechanism than with the .223 incarnation.  I'm very pleased indeed with my conversion, just need more magazines.

Good looking rifle. How much are the mags running and are they pretty much available?

Um, yeah - that's a bit of a problem.  Right now they are not available and when they are they're $75 each.

Thanks. Do we have any actual real life experience on the 16" barrel. "discussion"?
It can't be a bad thing with all the PCCs outthere currently out there and more on the way.

I fired a full auto one at the bullpup shoot last year. Second stage to get it full auto is so dam heavy I asked the styer guy if they had put the full auto trigger pack in it as I thought trigger was all the way back already . Practical as in doing more than pew pewing at a high rate of speed I got nothing.

Thank you ColtsR4Football. I checked the Site and it looks to have good ballistics(they start to drop after 17" IIRC).
This makes me feel better about my two PCCs sitting in the to be fired next box.

As appealing as the 9mm aug is I can't justify it AND a new a3m1. And the mag cost; when is manventure going to wind up with a buttload of those?

eta
And the new KKM rifle.

Wow, awesome!  I never knew this site existed - and I'm in awe of what they did!!!

Nice also that it puts the "10-inch" assertion firmly out to pasture!

Still waiting for my parts offer! (lol) I need to pushed a little to buy this conversion.  I think 9mm sounds fun in a rifle - I also could shoot it suppressed.

We are doing a set of Aug 9mm kits with threaded barrels.  The threads will be cut  single point on a CNC machine so they will be done correctly.  These are standard 9mm threads, 1/2x36.  They will ship with a A2 flash hider installed. $1299.

That's okay if you are not shooting 147 suppressed, that's the whole point of having a 9mm rifle.
