I might have asked this before and a LONG time ago but: Question 1: I know ABC protects the tube where if bright light is detected it turns down the resolution...but is Bright Light Protect the same thing or does this feature actually turn the unit off??? Question 2: If Bright light protection is a different feature then ABC (which i think it is) i know the PVS-14 had both features but does the mini14 have both or ONLY ABC??? |
I looked this up just to make sure. Automatic Brightness Control (ABC) Automatically reduces voltages to the microchannel plate to keep the image intensifier's brightness within optimal limits and protect the tube. The effect of this can be seen when rapidly changing from low-light to high-light conditions; the image gets brighter and then, after a momentary delay, suddenly dims to a constant level. Bright-Source Protection (BSP) - High-Light Cut-Off Reduces the voltage to the photocathode when the night vision device is exposed to bright light sources such as room lights or car lights. BSP protects the image tube from damage and enhances its life; however, it also has the effect of lowering resolution when functioning. Both the 10160 tube (Uesd in the Mini, ANVIS 6&9, Raptor, NVM, the list goes on) and the 11769 tube (Used in the PVS 14, BNVD, and Talon) have both features. The only difference between these two tubes is the variable gain power supply of the 11769. IPSC_GUY SIERRA II ALPHA |
