| Looking to buy a bird gun to do some pheasant hunting and possibly some trap and skeet. First I can't decide if I want an automatic or an over under. I guess the only reason I was looking at autos is for a little weight savings. Assume I know nothing (which I don't) about either autos or over unders. I have only heard Winchester and Benneli are "the" brands for auto. My father-in-law has a nice Ruger over under, I think it's a redline. I would like to stay under 1600. I am either looking at the Winchester X3 or a Benelli for autos and it's wide open for over unders. |

More and more I like an O/U simply because I hate chasing shells. Sure, an auto gives you a 3rd shot, but honestly how often do you need that 3rd shot (and how often is that third shot a "frustration"s hot?)
Plus an O/U or SxS gives you two chokes to chose from. |
