Just curious what reason did SKD give for not selling them to civilians?  Is it a fear of tort liability?

There are many places that won't sell body armor to civilians.  SKD is just one of them.

You can try Triad Tactical, but I'm not sure if they'll sell to civvies either.

Right now, there is a shortage of material and priority goes to those who use it on the job.  It is the same with ammo, night vision, etc.

I know quite a few vendors said that they would be fine with selling it to civvies, but their insurance carriers woudl drop them if they did that.

They probably have the same insurance company that determined that I can't have a charcoal grill at my apartment, but propane is OK.

Funny...I can get as many sets from PPI as my budget would allow.

Well there must be a reason. It isn't against federal law to sell to civilians so are they concerned about state criminal statutes or civil tort liability?  Are they concerned about warranty issues or are they just trying to keep it out of the hands of civilians for PC reasons?

Mostly insurance and liability reasons.  Some dealers may just not want civilians to have armor.  Or a combination thereof.  Can't really say.
