Hey guys, Quick question. Does anyone out there run a .308 BDC scope on their M1A or M14? If you do, what do you use? Why did you pick that one? What do you like about it? What don't you like? What's your favorite ice cream flavor? ETC.... I appreciate it. I've found an ACOG that has a .308 BDC, and that seems to be a good direction to move in, but I'd also like something that's variable if it exists. Thanks Again! |

I just purchased a Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 with BDC. There was a field report from someone on the SWFA optics board and he thought it was a great scope for the money. I mounted mine last night and it looks great and I can't wait to try it out. I did a search on this scope from several forums and most people thought this scope was very good. Time will tell. SWFA has a good price and Bass Pro had almost the same price on it, but I found a new one on E-Bay for only $340 shipped. Can't beat it!!! Good luck. |

I've had a Bushnell 4X12 with BDC on my M1A for about 30 years now. It works fine. I would recommend you try yours out to it's max range with the ammo you will be using/depending on. A couple years ago I found that one type of surplus ammo I was shooting/have stored away was dead on at 100, 200, and 300 yds. However at 400 yds. I had to set the scope on 460 yds. Didn't shoot past 400 yds. but it's obvious it wouldn't have been "on" at 500 yds. either. |

I have the Springfield Govenment Model 6X fixed scope with BDC. It's OK. It came with the rifle which I bought used. The rifle is an excellent shooter. I've had mixed results with the Springfield Gen. 3 mount. I had to really over torque the screws to get them to stay put. Seems to be fine now. Someone else recommended the Nikon Monarch. Great scopes. I have a 4-16 on my Savage set up and it excellent. My Springfield is set up for 150gr. loads. It will vary with a 168gr. match load. You need to shoot and record the difference. |
| I have a kahles ZF95, not a civvy version either. Its weird how you line a person up to range them, you put the bottom notch at groin level, and the other at the top of there head, which ever square they are in tells you how far they are away, then use the dial on the top of the scope to zero in. Works well, and always accurate for me even out to 1000 yards. I wish I could find the instructions labeled "Sniper scope" hahah seems very armchair warrior-ish. |
Does anybody know the details on this? What type of round (weight & velocity), and possibly barrel, this is calibrated for? I searched L3/Eotech's Website and could not find any info. I have also called and left voicemails, but no response yet. I am looking for an optic to put on my SOCOM, however I believe I would have issues between the ammo and barrel length, most likely the calibration would be off. I am not sure what weapon the military would use this on? I suspect it may be for the M240? If that is the case, I am not sure how well it would do on 16" rifle firing 168 gr HPBTM? Finally got the specs on the Eotech 552.XR308, It is setup for a 150 gr round fired out of a 24.7" barrel. L3/Eotech did not come out and say that it was designed for the M240, but that is about the only thing in military inventory that I am aware of that matches those specs. That being the case, it would obviously be off to some degree if used on a Scout/SOCOM, or a 22" rifle, especially with a 168, 175, or 177 gr round. If anyone has tried one of these on any .308 rifle and can provide any feedback it would be greatly appreciated. Still not sold 100% on either one at this point. |

Another vote for the Burris. I'm running the Signature Select 3-12x 44 with the Ballistiplex reticle. This scope doesn't have parallax adjustment, but I've honestly never found myself in a situation where I needed it. My only dislike is the fact that the whole rear bell turns when you adjust the magnification. Other than that, the scope is all that I hoped for and MORE!

My votes for the Mueller 4x16 50mm Tactical/mildot reticle. Great scope for the $$. $220.00 shipped with a free sunshade. I've gone in their reviews. Most guys say the glass is comparable to the Leupold VXII's. Check em out: http://www.muelleroptics.com/products/MT41650IGR.html I just bought one but haven't mounted it yet. I do have a Mueller Eraticator on my 22-250 and man I can't tell the diff in clarity at 300 yds from my Leupold Vari X III 6x20. |
I have the Khales Israeli one too and and am just starting to work with it.  The glass is great and I love the reticule. Being fixed 6x it is a nice bombproof marksman's scope.  Of course they are calibrated in meters for 165 grain or such. So the point of impact changes with regular 150 grain surplus.  The one problem I have with it is the turrets do not have clicks. So when you loosen the lock down screws to make adjustments there is no reference for how far you have traveled it makes for a small amount of trial and error in zeroing . Truly though, once that is done it is a fixed 6x that you cannot break. JR |
 There are different BDC cams that go in the elevation turrets of these scopes. different weights of 7.62 and 5.56 Manual???? I don't have one. Hey how about helping a brother out. Can I offer you a SASE to send me a copy? JR |
