Picked one up yesterday, got out to shoot today.  Amazingly tight, light, great handling rifle.

Think I'm going to scope it, any suggestions?

Also thinking about suppressing;  thinking about getting someone to thread the barrel past the mag tube, make an adapter, and use to mount the Sparrow.  Thoughts?

Threading the barrel will interfere with the magazine tube. Besides BL-22s are too nice to hack on.

Get a bolt action .22 to suppress.

Weaver rimfire 2.5-7x28 or Leupold 2-7x28 rimfire.

My .02.

See, I'm thinking to just thread the barrel portion beyond the mag tube and get an adapter made that would have female threads for the barrel and male threads to spec for the Sparrow.

I think there would be enough barrel to make a secure adapter.

I really like mine. I have an old groove mount Bushnell 4x on mine. Nice and light.

FPNI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will fuck this gun up if you try to suppress it. There is not enough space between the end of the mag tube and the tip of the muzzle. You would have to shorten the mag tube and follower, and move the barrel band towards the receiver. We had a customer in Florida who wanted to do this  a good while back. Gunsmith/owner of the shop refused to butcher the gun. Dude went elsewhere, got his gun cluster-fucked. Asked boss to fix it with new parts. He passed on the job. Figured guy did not listen to his 40 years experience as gunsmith, not worth the headache or cost to fix other guy's fuckup.

FPNI it again in regards to the scope choices, but I would add as a choice a good older Weaver or Redfield fixed 3-4x scope. Just my personal preference for a hunting grade rimfire. Not likely to get the level of accuracy that would justify higher power glass from this rifle. jmtcw in re the glass.

Just use CB caps.  They're pretty quiet.  I've killed many a bird feeder raiding squirrel with my BL22 and Remington CBees.

OK, after all that I've changed my mind and won't think about suppressing.

I've got a few k of CCI and Gemtech subs, so quiet shooting will use those.

I wanted to put a red dot on one, and since the intensity adjustment knob, was so big, and the grooved receiver so short, I could not mount one, unless I had a rail.
The rings would have to be too far apart, to fit on the receiver.
I tried an older BKL rail, but it just slid back and forth on the grooved receiver.
Does anyone make an extended, one-piece rail, that would clamp securely on this rifle, so a red dot can be mounted?

I've had mine for over 20 years. I used to shoot the crap out of it but it sits on the safe now.

Load it up with shorts, 22 rounds lasts a long time.

Buy standard velocity (subsonic) ammo.  The standard velocity fodder tend to be more accurate and does not have the LOUD, supersonic crack of the higher velocity stuff.

Put the scope on it this evening, will sight it in tomorrow.

Got a Leupold 2-7x28 VX1 scope.

Got it sighted in today.  I'm hitting a bout 1" groups at 50 yards with CCI Standard Velocity.  That seemed to do the best out of Fed bulk, Fed Auto Match, CCI Standard, and CCI Quiets.

This thing is a hoot to shoot.

Just to add on to what others have already said, that is a nice rifle. I'll second the recommendation for CCI Standard Velocity ammo. That stuff in my Marlin Model 60 sounds barely louder than a pellet gun.
