OK so aside from the fact that every rifle is different... is BLC-2 a plinking powder only?
I ask because everywhere I see, people talk like it's a crappy powder.

I have some Hornady 75gr BTHP and some Barnes 70gr TSX that I want to load up in the near future...
Would you use BLC-2 if you have it, or go get Varget?  Something else?

BLC-2 works well for me with my 62grn bullets.

Nothing wrong with BLC (2)...

Nothing wrong with BLC-2

I shot this 100 yrd group with WC846 surplus,  which is supposed to be the same as BLC-2,  and 55gr. hornady VAMX

(I use VARGET for 77gr)

BLC-2 is the most accurate powder for my bolt gun in .223 Rem and 55gr bullets.

If you have some, try it.  If your gun doesn't care for it, buy something else.

There's probably a reason this gunpowder has been around since the late 1960's, and BL-C before that.

One thing you will find in reloading is that most people have a bias and they are usually wrong because they bash quality components . I use a lot of BL-C2 and just picked up a couple hundred pounds of it . I use it for 5.56 and .308 and it does not let me down . People tend to be closed minded that reload and I am glad as some of the powders they hate are the powders I load the most .

Yea, this. Another thing to keep in mind, is that most of the "bashers" spend far more hours repeating the internet on their keyboards , than squeezing the trigger at the range. (And wouldn't know "accuracy" if it slapped them upside the head)

I've used it off and on over the years.  Good stuff.

I've used the WC-846 for years with no problems in .223, .308 and 30-06.  Some of the criticism towards BLC-2 is that it is somewhat temperature sensitive on hot days, or more so than the most common extruded powders.  This leads to inconsistancy in velocity and accuracy at long range in match ammo.  If you're shooting at highpower matches at 600 yards, if you are good enough to keep 'em all in the x-ring you'll likely see a difference on a hot day if you don't know to change your zero appropriately.

I just got back from the range working up .308 loads in my LR-308 w/BLC-2 and varget.  Best 5 shot groups w/varget was 0.418" over 43.5 and 0.565" over 44.0.  Best 5 shot groups w/BLC-2 were 0.861" over 45.0 and 0.498 over 45.5 grains.  My biggest group was 1.374 suppressed and 1.435 unsuppressed. My biggest group w/Varget was 1.738 suppressed and 2.108 unsuppressed. I was very pleased w/the BLC-2 anyways.  I'll be getting some more if I can ever find it.

My .22-250 loves it with a sierra or nosler 52 bthp match.

My colt ar Hbar loves it with a 69 SMK.

I do buy less ball powders these days, but the proof is on the paper so to speak.  It shoots.

or to quote Zediker "It won what it won" (he was writing about 4064 IIRC being used to win major national competitions with the .308 cal rifles)

223 AR 16", 53 gr Hornaday HPBT, tried Varget, Tac, H-335, AA-2230, and BLC2. BLC2 beat Varget and all the others here.

223 AR 16", for 55 and 62 gr FMJBT"s, tried IMR-3031, IMR-4895, Varget, W-748, AA-2230, H-335, Tac, and BLC2.

H-335, Tac, Varget, and BLC2 all worked well, chose BLC2 to standardize.

223 AR 16", 60gr Sierra HP, 68gr Hornaday HPBT Clear choice of Varget and RL-15 here.

30-30 M94, used IMR-3031 for years, switched to BLC2 to simplify number of powders I stock. Same accuracy, no powder trickling to load rounds.

308 bolt rifle, 150 gr hunting loads tried Varget, IMR-4895, IMR-4064, IMR-3031, W-748, H-335 and BLC2. BLC2 was most accurate.

Going into testing I was expecting Varget to rule in 308. Not in my rifle. You never know until you test.

You could certainly say that I'm a big fan of BLC2.

I am loading 25.0 grains of BLC-2 under my Hornady 75 grain BTHPs in my 16" 1:7 twist barrel SIG 556s with excellent results.

Looks "excellent" to me.

Is that a BURRIS XTR 1-4x?
I Love mine.

Surprised nobody has mentioned that it meters like water as well.  I use it in my AR's, my M1A and my Garand.

That and RL7 are the best for me metering wise...not to mention damn hard to find right now!

I've loaded thousands of rounds with BL-C(2). I get good and consistent accuracy and velocity with it. (Mostly 55gr FMJ, a bit of 68gr and 70gr bullets too.) For a progressive I find that it meters AMAZINGLY consistently. Bulk loading ability, but better accuracy. Hard to complain.

That is an XTR 1-4, excellent out to 250 yards and the illuminated mil spec ballistic reticle is great for early dawn and late dusk work too.

I bought it for meterability-excellent. Then I bought AA2230 IIRC for meterability/price(and to work around warm temps). Now I can't find any more BLC-2

I've got 25 pounds or more of BLC(2)and about the same amoutn of H380 and i love both of those powders. I use 25 grains of BLC(2) with a Sierra 52 gr. HPBT in my .222rem and I get the best accuracy out of that than any othe powders I've tried.

I mentioned this in another post, and I don't know how it would work with the heavy 75-gr bullets (likely wouldn't give top velocity there, if that's an issue), but I just tried out a 55-gr BL-C2 load that was the most accurate that I have ever shot out of that particular AR15.  It was some ammo that the Rangemaster insisted I try - he assured me it was a "mild and accurate" load.  So slipping 10 into the mag, I shot a 1/2" 5-shot group at 100 yards.  The next 5 banged off reasonably rapidly did enlarge the original group to 3/4" for 10 shots.  Obviously there were no flies on this combination.  The Rangemaster said that it shot as well in both his AR15 and Rem 700, and was curious as to how it would do in other rifles.

The load  consisted of a  Hornady 55-gr V-Max Moly bullet with 25.3 grains of BL-C2 in LC cases with a CCI 400 primer and clocked a very mild 2912 fps from a 20" barrel.

So while I have always tended to use H-335 out of habit, I have always heard good things about BL-C2 and filed that info away in my head, just in case...

I use BLC-2 for my 55 gr. loads. They are primarily plinking loads but still capable of moa accuracy. I can regularly hit standard sized clay pigeons offhand at 100 yds. in my eotech topped 16". Will do even better in a scoped gun. Some say it is temp sensitive. Maybe it is but I haven't had a problem with it, but then I don't leave my ammo laying in direct sun either nor do I shoot in 110 deg. temps.
