Anybody know anything about these knives? I'm thinking about getting a Fox River as a general belt knife and a Patch knife as a concealment knife. How does Bark River stack up against other knives in thier price range? How well do they hold up to abuse, edge holding etc etc?

HawkCreek,

I have used Bark River knives for a few years now and absolutely love them for woods use. I carried the same Fox River on 4 or 5 wilderness survival courses with no problems and it cut like a razor after heavy use. You can't go wrong with them.

If you have any reservations about the knives, check out the Bark River Knife and Tool forum on knifeforums.com   You can chat directly with the owner and other Bark River fans. I'm a moderator on knifeforums.com and can help you navigate the site if need be.

I have the Fox River and the Northstar.  Both are exceptional knives and built to withstand the riggers of anything you could expect from a 4" field knife.  I absolutely love the convex edge, which is easy to maintain (via stropping) and cuts like no tomorrow.  A2 steel is a good choice, just requires a little of maintenance that any field knife should receive and it'll out last you.

Bark River made this knife for me last year:

I spoke with Mike Stewart a few times, and he built EXACTLY what I wanted.

Bark River Knives are excellent and come with a hair popping convex edge and one of the best warranties in the business. Also, their customer service is second to none. Great blades. Check out their forum over on Knifeforums.com. Here are a few pics of my Bark Rivers,

I'm looking at a few of the Bark River Knives.. The Sutter Creek, The mini Slither and the Fox River.

Where is the best place to get these?

As I mentioned above, I spoke directly with Mike when ordering mine.

But I still had to pay at a dealer - I paid through these guys, and they provided exceptional service:
