Ok I'm shopping for a bayonet / Shtf blade. I used to be issued the new Marine corps Bayonet? Not to sure how sturdy it would be for bAttoning firewood and pounding in tent stakes in such like I use my cold steel recon tanto I bought back in 2001.
Basically looking for a heavy duty bayonet. My M4forgery is set up with a bayonet. Yes might not be practical to most but as a former MCMAP instructor it gives me a warm and fuzzy to have the ability to mount a bayonet. Also anyone know where to get one of those old foam dummies for bayonet training.

The USMC bayonet is probably the sturdiest issue one. If you want a stout knife that can be used as a bayonet, and are willing to pay for it, then check out the Zero Tolerance ZT-9

Cool looking knife but S30V is an odd choice for a big hard use blade. Agreed, but if anyone can pull it off, it would be Strider, and they are part of ZT. I've seen some pretty impressive video of S30V striders standing up to abuse. That said, I'd prefer 5160 + proper maintenance. |
