Figured this was the best place to ask. How stable is the bayonet when mounted on the rifle. Im thinking about getting one, cutting it up, and turning it into a light mount since I need to be able to attach and detach the light DAILY. I would be getting rid of the ring that goes over the barrel. I have ZERO expierence with bayonets so I have no clue how stable they are. Also where would be a good source to get an older M-7 model.

Depends on the rifle and its bayonet mount.  Chances are if the rifle sees rough use, without the muzzle mount ring a good hit could damage the lug.  If there is a railed handguard system for your rifle you could always just purchase a throw-lever mount and permanently mount the light to that.  A quick throw and the light is on or off.

Really the bayonet lug is my only option as this is for my duty RRA rifle (no rail) its stock just with an eotech on it (its a pool gun and stays in the vehicle (so it has to come off daily). Also its just going to have a 6p with a drop in module in it on the rifle.
