I just came across an unfired Belgian made FN FAL that was bought new approximately 30 years ago.
The bolt says 308 Match on it. What is the estimated value on the gun and two mags with no box or papers? Thanks |
| Lots of variables there. Is it a Paratrooper or not? Paratroopers are generally worth somewhat more than a fixed-stock model. Is it a G Series? (BIG bucks.) There are some other variations that are pretty rare, but I can't think of them off of the top of my head right now. |
| If the rifle is 100% finish -wise, and all the parts on it are original, I would guess in the neighborhood of $2000 to $2500. This will also depend on what part of the country you are in, and the availbility of a rifle like you are describing in your area. If you want a better guess, just go to gunbroker and see what a similar rifle has sold for recently. Don't look at the "Asked" price, look at the "Sold for" price. This will give you and idea of what the current market will bear. You can also go to the FAL Files and ask the same question there. Lots of people there are a LOT more knowledgeable than me! |
| Prices have crept up on these, despite the poor economy. $2500 is a good deal on one, most I've seen sell have been in the 2700-3000 range. Yours would be a Type III later import, these are the only ones that were marked ".308 Match". Even though the FAL was a contemporary of the HK91 there were relatively much fewer FALs imported (they cost a lot more back in the day). I purchased my G series in the 1970s for $800 and that was extremely expensive for that time. |
