I just bought a mesa tactical stock for mine. I wanted to stay traditional for the last year but with as much as I use AR types, I’m too used to pistol grips. Hoping it trims down a little recoil ETA yes it does. Stock length works better for my build. |

It will still be tucked up close to the gun and out of the way at the 6 o’clock position. Does anyone know of an optic setup for the A300UP that provides about a 1/3 cowitness w/the GRS w/the GRS still usable? I don't want a true cowitness as the GRS front/rear would clutter the sight picture and I don't want the optic mounted so high as to make it unworkable. Thx! |

At least at 6oclock I think it would be less likely to snag and act as a lever Since this is for HD and not everyday duty use, I'm not terribly worried about ruggedness, especially since it's at 6 o'clock and, as you mentioned, less likely to snag or receive impacts. It also has the benefits of better beam location for clearing corners and centering the hotspot parallel w/the barrel for snapshots. Hmmm... ETA: I'm headed to the range w/it again tomorrow, this time to try it w/o gloves to determine if the texturing is too aggressive for me. If so, I've read about using sandpaper to take the edge off, any suggestions as to the appropriate grit to use (I'm a sandpaper noob)? |

GG&G makes a optic mount for a RMR that is a perfect lower 1/3rd. Holosun 407C also works perfect on that mount. |

Just out of curiosity, have there been any reported failures of the factory two-piece plastic mag tube cover? ETA: I ask 'cause while I understand the interest in aluminum over plastic for the mag tube cover itself (I plan on running w/o the mag tube clamp), the lack of reported failures (I haven't found any except for a single cold-weather reference) makes me wonder if an aluminum mag tube cover is a necessity or just 'nice to have.' Thoughts? Thx! |

Thoughts? Thx! The aluminum mag tube is very thin under the polymer. Beretta likes to use polymer to increase the strength of metals. The only concern I have over the single piece tube is the possibility of it getting dented and causing feeding issues so the only thing an aluminum cover would do is thicken the hide. I think the polymer cover is probably fine for 99% of the users out there. |

Update: Hit the range this afternoon w/a friend for more testing, function was 100% through another 50 or so rds of mixed bird & buck. Aggressive texturing didn't seem to bother our bare hands, but I can see how that could become troublesome if you went through a lot of shells in a short period of time. If you don't plan on installing an RDS, then I strongly suggest replacing the non-adjustable factory GRS w/this adjustable one: Beretta Adjustable Rear GRS For A300UP/1301 I had to crank the rear GRS down as far as it would go to and some to the left to center my patterns, but they did center. WML plug came out sometime during testing, unknown if it was from recoil (most likely) or if I didn't fully seat it during installation. More testing is in order and if recoil-induced I'll have to improvise something to prevent it. However, my friend gave the A300UP his highest praise by telling me after shooting it "I think you just cost me money..." I am so satisfied w/the A300UP that I just ordered another...

I replaced that cover because I thought it was an important upgrade, YMMV. If 90% of people in this thread buy a pro lifter that doesn't mean I am. Not doing timed reloads anytime soon, in fact a quick slug changeover is more important to me. Now the plastic rear sight bothers me, one good wack and it's probably done. If someone makes a metal unit (LPA) I'm on it. |
|
WML Update: While satisfied w/the TLR RM2, its location, the remote switch location and the cantilever mount, I wasn't entirely satisfied with the cable management. I moved the mount back half a slot which not only allows for the cable management shown below, but if I experience recoil-induced switch plug detachment I can run a zip tie from the lower front of the handguard to apply direct tension onto the cable to prevent switch plug movement. Been following this thread for what, a couple years now? I finally bought one I already have a 1301 and a M4-LE model. Love the 1301. The M4LE fails to fire ~2% of the time but Benelli doesn’t seem to care. Bought the A300 to try something different. I don’t need another shotgun but I also don’t need much of a reason to buy another shotgun ETA- Ran 40 rounds of various shotshells through my new Ultima Patrol. The gun handled everything without issue, including some really crappy Winchester “Universal” bulk pack from Walmart that MOST of my guns hate. I use it to help establish a baseline for reliability when vetting new-to-me guns. Recoil was not bad at all, despite the lightweight gun, even with full power Buck. On par with my 1301T, maybe a tad more felt recoil than my M4. I like the sights and they seem dead centered, although I was only shooting at about 20 feet. Eventually I’ll put a red dot and a light on it. I really like having the option for a sub-$1K serious, defensive, auto-loading shotgun. |
