Back in October a buddy and I split a box of 7mm 168 grain Berger hunting VLD's in the orange box. We loaded some rounds up for elk and made sure they were 1 MOA at 100 yards capable and didn't fine tune them. We both thought we will do it after elk season.

Fast Forward to today, I thought I'm gonna do these rounds up now. So as I'm gathering up my stuff to load I thought I'm gonna check one on the scale just to see if its still calibrated from earlier today.
The bullet weighed 180 grains so i recalibrate the scale and put it on there again and it read the same 180.
so i get out the box and check them all they all weigh 180 yet it says 168 grain on the box.

My buddy bought this box brand new from a store, and i know he didn't mix componets as this is the first time either of us have used Berger bullets.

I am going to call Berger in the morning and the store purchased from and see if i can get this straightened out.  I will keep this updated with what i find out.

Interesting.

I bought a box of Rainier .45 projectiles from Cabela's in their Bargain Cave that were there for the same issue. They weighed in differently than what was on the box.

Sir, FWIW I'm interested in what Berger tells you.  I've reloaded a ton of Berger bullets for use in competition and am quite pleased with the precision of their products.  I just bought 1K of their 6.5mm VLDs for the 260 I'm building and I expect the same high quality as I've experienced with other calibers.  Let us know what they say.  7zero1 out.

Mistakes happen. A friend of mine found some 62 grain fmj's mixed in the sealed sack marked 55 grain fmj's from Winchester. Needless to say load data is different for these two bullets.

Well i spoke with the CS at Berger and they said they will send out a box to replace the one I have, and they want me to ship wrong box back to them.

Problem is they arent sure when i will be able to get them as they are rebuilding the jacket machines right now. I am glad they took care of the problem and the lady on ther other end of the line was very happy to help.

I Also contacted the store and let them know the situtaion and they said they would check it out to see if they had any of the same lot # of bullets that i had.

It happens.  I had similar situation with SMK 175's in an M14.  They were 180's or 190's, can't remember which.  Found out when I was pulling due to poor performance.  Didn't break a thing.  Gotta love SA M14's.  Never had a problem since.
Berger makes good stuff.  I've not used the hunting bullets
