What bi-pod is best for a bolt action 50 bmg? Do i have to worry about a harris bi-pod prematurely giving up the ghost? Is there a more HD version out there? |

The best bipod for a 50 BMG, bar none is the APA Bipod. They're rock-solid and made by a guy who shoots FCSA and NCSA matches so he's listened to what competitors want.
They're sold by Armalite (site sponsor), Allied Precision Arms (the manufacturer, google it), and Schryver Gun Sales. I've got one my AR-30 338 Lapua when i'm shooting it long range and I love it! Have also used one on an AR-50 and it works GREAT! -David Edgewood, NM |

Check out the Sniper's Choice bipod. (http://lraccuracy.com/). It's new to the market (soon to be released). We showed it at SHOT 2010 and witnessed first hand the very strong and positive reaction of industry leaders.
http://lraccuracy.com/images/header3.jpg It features an under-hung trunion system, which simultaneously lowers the center of gravity and allows for the operator to use the bipod quickly and easily on uneven terrain. The picture features the Sniper's Choice bipod attached to the quadrail on the Zel Custom Tactilite T1 in .50 BMG. The bipod legs are so sturdy that they can support the weight of a grown man. This bipod, quite simply, significantly raises the bar. Dave is a bit behind on orders, but we've got six coming in a matter of weeks. |

It is setup for several different mounts but I don't know of a 1913 rail variant. There may be, but I'm not sure. Definitely is a T-rail mount for the AR-50 and a mount for M82s and M99s. -David |

The bipod is stout, light, and adjustable. Even though there is an adapter for the AR-50 available I would not recomend it on that gun (I've tried it -too top heavy/narrow bipod footprint) I realy like the concept of the Snipers Paradise "slung" under-trunion design. I've been thinking of making something similar for my AR-50 when time permits... NICE WORK! |

FYI APA does make a Picatinny rail version of their bipod. They're not in full production yet but they do exist. -David Edgewood, NM Im gonna have to pick one up then.... Be aware, the legs are not adjustable. A bit of a let down for me but they are really well made. |

nmmi9100 has some good pics of the extentions. I tried to find a thread I posted about that very bi pod with his pics in it but couldn't find it. Why do we only have 6 pages of history in here anyway? http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=3&t=305762 And for non-paying forum members:
