I want to put a bipod on my FAL and have heard that the actual FAL ones aren't very sturdy.  I like the fact that it would be a true look on it, but function is more important.  Don't want to have to make some big modification to the factory handguards or add a ton of weight.  Any suggestions?

They are sturdy enough but will push your POI something like 3-4 MOA IIRC. For what they were intended for this is not a big deal. For precise shooting it most certainly is.

I always liked the STGs and their bipods, well after replacing the metal handguards anyway. My last FAL actually shot better with the bipod installed. Most people get better accuracy by removing them.

First, you have to have a bipod cut barrel. Second, you need bipod cut handguards, which most are.

Then the bipod just bolts together but it would probably help to have the special driver for the nuts.

The bipod is very, very sturdy. Not adjustable for length, but the barrel can "roll" in the mount for uneven terrain.

When the bipod is folded back, it gives you a better grip on the handguards. Also, the extra weight forward helps steady the rifle.
