As my knife addiction continues to grow I was wondering how you guys store your knives. Right now I just have them all in a drawer. There has got to be something better. Any Ideas?
Hard Shell gun case maybe? |
| Get a sealable container I like storm cases but many other more affordable options. make or buy a knife roll for pocket knives or fiixed blades you never keep a knife in a leather sheath longterm. buy some silica drying agents to go into the container. roll the knives up and put them into the container with the silica no moisture and they are protected use foam to pad out the knive rolls so they don't move. over kill but hey what are they worth to you. alot of mine are not replacable. You can always get some grease to coat the metal thickly and keep anywhere as the grease will protect it mostly but takes time to get cleaned up for use. alot of option out there. This is my hillbilly idea works for my guns |

They all (except my "every day carry" knives) go in the safe with the guns. The folders are in one of these:

I've also been looking at storage options for my folders, this one looks good:
Kershaw Knife Case |
| Most of my knives are in small cases in a rubbermaid container. Swords go into the safe with all the weapons. Desiccant in both to keep the moist Florida air dry. Carbon steel gets a type of wax used on museum pieces and it is pretty inexpensive- oil collects dust and then moisture. Japanese blades always have a type of powder that they are coated with before wiping the blade after oiling. A roll case is fine if they don't have any foam padding in it. The padding will not breathe and will collect moisture (grampa went through that with his rifle with the foam padding). I release auto knives springs into the open position and cover blades and handle with pipe thread mesh if it is worth anything. |

I use the Benchmade cases as well for my collections. I have three of the cases and they are great for any folder that is less than 5 1/2 inches in length while closed. Any longer than that, and it will prevent the case from closing properly. I have a couple knves that are 6" plus closed and they have to stay out by themselves.
