I see a ton of names around here from GT to YHM to AAC and more, but I don't see too much about Bowers.  Anyone have any thoughts about them for sub-gun/SBR use?

Tom makes an excellent product that is, A, priced right and, B, performs well. His CAC9 is a great suppressor and it 'looks' nice too.

His customer service is also second to none.

I personally owned the CAC9 (latest generation) and thought it did very well on my MPA30 (semi)

Then a friend of mine purchased a CAC45 and shot it on both his Semi 9 and 45 Mac Clone....   it was MUCH quieter than the 9 version, even when shooting 9mm.

I ended up selling mine to another dealer and picked up the CAC45 myself.

On my SWD M11 it is hearing safe, Fun, and I consider it a required item for new people shooting my MAC to give them a handhold.

Tom personally is a great guy, answering a ton of questions and being VERY polite! (He's local to me too, and I've since referred a few more people to purchase the CAC45, all of whom are very happy.

For the price, they can't  be beat.

oh, and get the silicone grip to cover the suppressor, and you'll thank me. (it gives them a old school look, while allowing a safe handhold and the ability to tighten the suppressor before and after shooting.)

The Bowers Cheap Ass Can is pretty hard to beat for a budget priced silencer.  I've had my CAC45 for almost 10 years, and have used it on 6 or 8 different guns, using various thread adapters.  I think when I bought mine, I was in for under $500 including transfer tax and dealer fees.  Although prices have gone up a bit since then due to increases in materials and inflation and all that jazz.

I sent my can in for the mount upgrade, and I'm really happy with it.  The biggest problem with any can designed for the MAC series is the coarse threads used on the barrel.  They make it so the can will loosen very easily.  With the finer threads, the can will still remain fairly well concentric to the bore if it starts to loosen.  If a MAC can loosens the slightest bit, you will have misalignment problems, and you will get baffle strikes.  It is really important to get some kind of cover so you can physically hold the can on tight.  It's also nice as it gives you a good place to hang on to.  Thread adapters work well to use the can on other guns, but you still have the coarse MAC thread interface to worry about.  Like I said, the newer mounting system does away with the MAC threads completely if you want.  Although it is still possible to get a mount for the factory MAC threads if you want that too.

<––- eta: Oh yeah - and check out my avatar.  Bigger picture posted below.  I really liked the vortex of smoke coming out of the end of the can.

I really like the Uzi mount as well.  Even though I have a Trident, the CAC45 is my preferred can to use with the Uzi.  It just sounds better.  The sound level seems about the same, but the tone is lower with the CAC.  I also prefer the CAC45 on my M11/9, as the Trident blows way too much gas back into my face.  The CAC doesn't have that issue.  The Trident sees more use on my SBR and handguns, and the CAC mostly stays on the subguns.

I've also owned a Bowers CAC-22, which is a solid full-auto rated .22 can that gave good performance.  And I've currently got a Bowers MOUT, which is rated for semi-auto .223, but is only the size of a .22 can.  I'd consider it more of a "moderator" than a suppressor.  I don't know that it's hearing safe on an AR15, but on a bolt-action or single-shot it sounds pretty good.  I mostly use it for full-auto .22 as well, and just use the vinegar / peroxide mix to clean it out as it's also completely stainless.

I've handled / shot a Bowers Paradigm.  It doesn't weigh anything.  Really.  It's got to be the lightest can I've ever played with.  And the sound suppression was on par with my TAC67, which I don't consider to be bad.

Trident vs. CAC45 with Uzi mounts

M11/9 - I had the end of the barrel threaded so I don't have to use the factory barrel threads.  Much better.

22/45 anyone?

no- it doesn't cycle

I've had a CAC9 for several years and not a second of regret. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
