Will uniforming primer pockets, and deburing flash hole make a noticeable difference in a non BR rifle?  Ex. Rem 788 in 22-250, AR-15 20" wilson.

I got a lot to do and its a PITA, I am using L.C. brass in the AR(.223) and new Winchester in the 22-250.

For just shooting ammo...........I doubt it..........but, I'm also ASSUMING good quality brass to begin with.

well for now I am doing it for cases being used to work up loads.  Which in turn will turn into my prarie dog rounds.

Thanks Mark

Can I ask: How far away are the dogs?

I have a friend from Hawaii that went prairie dog shooting in the mainland.  He had his factory re-loaded 55gr. SP rounds shipped to the shooting Ranch.  Then, he brought his AR along on the plane flight from Hawaii.   Anyway, he had so much fun.........I doubt that the dogs could tell a difference.  And, he didn't complain about a "noticeable difference" in accuracy from his usual Match Shooting rounds.   So, in the end........it sounds more like a MATTER of PERSPECTIVE.

range??  I don't know this will be my first dance.  I have been told from 10 yards to 800+ yards. so?  I am also bringing my 7mm sighted for as far as I can get with my current scope/mount setup.

I don't KNOW.....I don't hunt.  But, I'd be thinking (dangerous) that maybe you should ask the "Ranch/Guide."  IIRC......last time (about a year ago) he said it was no more than 100-300 yds. to the dog town.   And.......I'd want a gentle recoiling rifle so as I could shoot more and put a BIG dent in the population .

yah, I am not planning on shooting the 7 mm much at all, but I thought it would be fun none the less.  I am borrowing my dad's -250 and am working up loads for him and myself, using 55 grn v-max's (also being used in the AR).  I plan on shooting the smaller rifles mainly.  Bringing my 10-22, I should be able to hit em at 100 at least with it, although the splat effect won't be there, it will be another rifle to shoot while the others cool down.

I can't tell you if it will make a big enough difference for you. The real question is Are you a good enough field shooter to notice the difference?

I just returned from a one day shoot where we went through 2,000+ rounds. When you are slinging that much lead it really won't matter and you won't know if a round is off or not. Most of the shooters in our group burned through mostly 22lr. We were making good hits out to 175-200 yards with my Savage MKII BV. In side 100 was way to easy. My Bushmaster Predator load was 25gr Varget, CCI SRP, Winchester cases fully prepped and 60gr VMAX's. This load runs right @ 2,900 fps over the crony. Inside 200 yards shots are easy and the results are explosive. My confirmed hits beyond 250 were showing that expansion was definitely slowing down. @ 250 you got an entrance hole and @ 2" exit hole. @ 350 it was half that or less. I am now working that load up to get a little more speed for better terminal performance at longer ranges. As of today I was able to get it up to 3,100fps. I will load more up tomorrow to see if I lost any accuracy.

BTW the Bushmaster was by far the bell of the ball at that shoot. Every one agread that it was the perfect rat gun.

Good, I am taking my Rock River AR in a 20" as my main platform.  The others will just be shot to allow a cool down period.

No one does all that case prep for prairie dog ammo, they load up all they can afford and take as many shots as they can stand.  Everyone I know is more concerned about taking enough guns so they can keep two or three cooling.

I am glad to hear that, I was wanting the most accurate ammo I could load, but as previously stated it probably is not going to make a difference.  I was sick thinking about all that case prep besides.  I will probably continue to uniform primer pockets and debur flash holes for my load developement, but not for large production runs.

If you are not shooting match bullets (and do not have a gun capable of better than 1 MoA), then brass prep will not show any gains.
