I'm priming a batch of 7.61/.308. The majority is LC-11. I'm separating the LC-11 from the other years LC and the .308 brass.
My question is should I go to the trouble of separating the LC by year. This is going to be used for plinking and hunting. I'm going to keep the LC separate from commercial .308. Thanks! |

No need whatsoever to sort LC brass by year.
The only reason for sorting brass by headstamp is the fact that different BRANDS of brass may size differently in your sizing die. Use a proper case gage to confirm that your re-sized cases from different YEARS of the same BRAND of brass actually do re-size to the same dimension, and then roll with it. |

I recently sorted LC brass by weight. I had a small lot (210) of LC-63. This entire lot weighed an average of 5grains less than a lot of mixed LC with years going from 67 to 84.
So I would not say sorting LC by ANY year is a waste of time. Other than this maybe extreme example I totally agree with the other replies. But even this amount is not enough to make a noticeable difference with plinking ammo. Motor1 |
