picked up a well worn auto 5, 12 gauge. 2 barrels, a 26" with select a choke. and a cut down 18 1/4".

it shoots great! I'm not planning on  a refinish, I love the old school riot look.
What I do need is some ideas for a bolt on (or drill and tap) style front sight for the short barrel, a simple bead won't work it needs to be about 3/8" high.
Any ideas are appreciated.

all it needs is an extended mag tube.

If you can figure out how to stretch the threaded part from an 870, it will work as they are the same thread.

I think CHOATE makes them.

Browning BPS tubes work.

If the BPS exstensions work then you are good to go ,as you don't need a front sight on a shotgun it will just distract you
from your mission!

I have a Nordic BPS  + 3 on my 20 inch Browning A5. No issues yet, but I also added a sling plate for a spacer to keep things easy on the wood.

^ forgot to mention that.

When I cut the barrel down on my Savage I took the front bead base off the old part and re-soldered back where it was needed.

Maybe you'll need to find another sight base and have it put on your barrel.

thanks to all for the info on the extensions, I have a +2 for a 870 I'm gonna try. thanks Cantshootstrate.
as for the sight I have the base off the original but its unusable, think I'm gonna make a homebrew sight
I am still open for ideas tho............

IIRC 870 extensions won't work well. I just got my Nordic Comp +2 for my A-5 in the mail today from Midway. Mine was $57 w/a C&R discount prior to shipping.  Looks like a nice piece of kit. The pics on the website show a big logo on the side but, the extension I rec'd had no markings.  FWIW. Choate did make A-5 extenions in years past but, they are all dried up.
