[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Building a 10/22

I see that a lot of people build 10/22's from the ground up. I've just started to become interested in building one and was wondering what part of the rifle is serialized. I mean, there has to be at least one part that requires an FFL transfer, right? I was going to buy a stock 10/22, but I would end up parting everything out anyway, so if I can build, that seems like the wiser choice.
