| I hope this is in the right place. I'm trying to build a small portable ammo locker, and wanted some ideals on how to build one, please post pics if you can. |
That's what I plan to do as soon as I have the space. But, how portable is that?

Look at local surplus stores for 20, 30 or 40mm ammo cans... www.colemans.com/containers.htm |
I like your organization skills I store my ammo in two large platic rolling tool boxes. I bought that at Home Depot for $50 each. |
Very nice, its going to suck if you ever have to move. |

Easily adapted to suit your needs: browningmgs.com/TransitCase.htm Example:

Ive done it 3 times, and that's not all of it. It does suck, but its a good kind of suck

Buy a good used Steelcase 2 drawer unit. Weld handles on the back and wheels on the bottom. {large ones on back, smaller on front, level it. Thank me later. Made a couple of these a few years ago for friends, they really liked them and each drawer will hold 3 or 4 cans of ammo [3 50s, 1 30 can] and the drawers are lockable to boot if you get the key to keep sticky fingers out. |
Check the surplus commercial office furniture outlets. You'd be surprised how cheap the steel monster cabinets are. You can find great deals right now as there is a glut in the market for used office furniture. Stick with the SteelCase or similar brands and stay away from the cheap Staples type cabinets. I can find 5 drawer file cabinets locally for about $25 if they have some cosmetic wear and tear on them. Luckily I work in a large office building and they actually throw away some great steel cabinets from time to time when they remodel sections of the building. ETA - Just an example |
