Don't be surprised if you see it make a comeback. Mack Gwinn is the designer of that gun, and he's now the owner and designer at MGI. I've heard him mention bringing that design back, with some modern improvements, on several occasions. I've talked with him about it at length a few times, and I've been saying that I'd like to bring that gun back too. It could happen. It's a very unusual design, but it has sound design principles. The lack of good QC caused its early demise on the first time out. |

I had one and sold it in the early 80's because it was a useless POS. I couldn't hit $hit with it and I am a pretty good shot. It was fun if your intention was "spray and pray". Now I wish I still had it because it was so unusual and there is nothing like it on the market. MadDog |

The grip pivots 45 degrees to either side, along with the front sight. Ejects out the top, so when you have it rotated on your right arm, it ejects right, and when you have it on your left arm, it ejects left. You should try shooting one of these in full-auto. It's about the coolest thing you can imagine. The whole thing is less than 20" long, and handles alot like a pistol. It's like a SMG on steriods! Mack still has some transferable full-auto receivers for these in his shop, but I can't talk him out one of them. I'd love to have one of those. |
I was just about to tell you that 7.62x39 couldn't easily be done because the mag would get in the way of the pistol grip, but now that I think about it, on a pistol like this where the ass end of it pivots, all you would have to do is rotate it 15 degrees or so to either side and then insert the mag. Not a bad idea at all, especially when you consider that the ballistics of the 7.62x39 are much better suited to a short barrel than the 5.56. |
