I'm REALLY thinking about getting one of these and wanted to see what everyone thinks about them and Busse has the option of getting serrations as well.

So Busse? Are they worth the $300 and if so do you get serrations?

This would be my camping/survival/bush/hunting knife...

Fire away gentelmen !!!!!

They have a CRAZY cult following.  Personally, if i had the cash right now i'de be all over it.  Sadly i had to put 4 new tires on the wifes vehicle a few days ago ($750) so i won't be buying anything for the next month or two.

I hope they leave this one up for the new few months, i might be able to hide enough money from the wife to buy one.......then i'll have to just tell her i got it at the flea market for a few bucks...........

But yea i think they are worth it.

Wow that's one nice looking blade. Im wondering how a Rat RC5 would stack up to this one?

I avoid serrated blades as I want a knife, not a saw.

Knives are much easier to sharpen than a saw blade. They cut fine if you keep 'em sharp too.

I was looking at that knife last week. Man its pretty.  Busse makes one hell of a tough knife. Is it worth $300 maybe, but i would have a tough time beating the crap out of a knife that expensive.  I have beat up my benchmade auto stryker that was $220 but I carry it everyday and use it for everything.   Hell if you know you will use it I would say go for it.

If you don't mind spending some money for a knife, Busses are definitely worth the price.  Looking at pictures simply does not convey what they feel like in the hand, and what they look like up close.  I used to scoff at $300+ knives, until I bought a Busse.  I now own several.

Busse has a crazy cult following for a very good reason.  Jerry Busse makes the best hard use knife on the planet.  It's simply
mind-boggling how much abuse a Busse can take.  Also, they have the
best warranty available, period.  If you somehow manage to break one,
they'll replace it, as long as you didn't break it on purpose (like by
taking a cutting torch to it for example).

Personally, as far as serrations go, I don't like them.  They're nice if you're cutting a lot of rope, but that's about it.

The Tank Buster seems to be very popular.  I'm not picking one up myself, but I just bought the new Swamp Rat Waki, a Scrapyard Scrapper 5, and a drum set.  My wallet needs some relief.

Thanks for all the input bro's

There's not much info on it right now, but there is a pic on bladeforums.com on the Busse forum.  Don't know if it will actually be made for sure, but if it is, I definitely would love to have one.  You have to register on bladeforums to view the Busse Forum.  Here is the link.

i've only got one HR and one FBM.  as knives go i'd be willing to put the busse kool-aid straight into a vein if i could.
it took me quite a while to stop babying my infi after spending what i did. but once i started the abuse, and the knife survived,
my reluctance to work them over was replaced by this twisted eagerness to beat the crap out of them.

kinda like crowbars with a convex edge.. or something.

Just put my order in for the Tank Buster. This is my first ever knife, never owned my own. I got black on black, nothing flashy. And I opted for the serrations, and the sharpening on the top location as well, and got the hardest handle combo they had. I only wanted to order this one, and hope it lasts a very very long time.

Warning...do not buy a Busse.  You think BRD is bad, just wait till your first Busse.  I started with one, an SAR-5 and now own 7 of different flavors.  I dont even need them.  Check out the torture of a Busse FFBM on www.knifetests.com

Isn't that the truth!  I started with the HR a few years ago.  10 blades later, I try to avoid looking at the site for fear of buying another!

+1

Don't buy the first...it's over if you do.  Once you actually use one you'll appreciate the steel and construction.  Blades do not chip.  Blades rarely if ever roll.  Sharpens easier than S30V IMO and holds an edge just as long.

To the OP, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT log on to Bladeforums and seek out Busse's Hoggaaanza sales.  Mass chaos, Massive spending of money, tons of misinformation spread by Busse fans.  Don't say I didn't warn you.

Even though I am a Randall fan, I have to admit that Busse makes a mean piece of steel! I have a Swamp Rat "Ratmandu" and it has replaced my Randall Model 14 as my medium sized "Walk about" blade.....

Has anyone received one of these bad boys or do they ship them all at the same time?

Ship when they are ready.  It is part of the new Bussekin business model.  I am not much on this blade, of course that might change if I got to hold one.  I am a guy that like 4" or less or 7" or more.

This.

I own several Busse and my favorites are my ASH1, HGG55 and BATAC. Focus on primary use rather then the knife. You however can't go wrong buying Busse.

You will not ever be sorry about the $ you spend on a Busse.  They are about all I own now. Here are my three TB I ordered.  If you get the swedge on the front, they fit perfect in a 6" spec ops sheath.
Very nice feel, utility size blade. almost reminds  me of the old Vietnam SOG bowie blade.

Make sure to give us a review on that Rat Waki when you have time. That blade looks like the perfect brush tool for my AO.
