Milled my first part for an Enfield 45 conversion, I made it out of brass as when tend to have a lot of scrap brass & copper laying around the Clock Shop.
My fingers are killing me from filing, fitting, & filing some more, it gave me a whole new respect for those craftsman who did it all by hand back in the day.
I milled out the rough shape but did the finish work with rat tail & flat jewelers files.
Anyone else use Brass as a medium?

What part did you make?  Got pics?

I would use brass, but aluminum is much cheaper to buy and ship.  I have a couple huge chunks of brass saved for a .22 gatling project that has stalled for 10 years.

I have a great camera but still have not figured out how to post pictures.
The part in question is for spring retention of the Bolt release lever, Enfields have a small lever at the rear of the receiver for removal of the bolt.

Once you get your photos on a host, put the url between '' without the tic marks.  Or click on the picture in the message menu, I can't figure out to short circuit the code to show what I want in that last sentence.

You can upload to a folder you create under your profile, or use the default folder under "Media Files".

I love brass.  Our usual modus operandi is to make a part, or do a milling or lathe operation we have never done before, in brass before we do it on a gun.
This has worked well for us over the years.
