1. Do I need to know the manufacturer, model number or serial number of a can before submitting a Form 4? 2. It asks for a caliber on the form. Is this information necessary for purchasing a suppressor or is that for purchasing a SBR or MG? 3. Is the manufacturer I list the manufacturer of the suppressor or the gun? 4. It is OK to use the suppressor on multiple guns, correct? Steps to get paperwork include: My info CoP info + fingerprints Company I'm buying from's info Does this mean I need to mail my form 4s to the supplier and then have them return them to me so I can send them to the ATF? I found a good writeup on a SBR, but nothing for buying a suppressor. Thanks! |

My dealer filled out all the information. I just had the Form4 signed by the CLEO and the fingerprint cards filled out. Returned everything to the dealer with a check made out to the treasury department and he sent it to the ATF. Caliber is needed, manufacturer, manufacturer address, dealer info, serial number, 2 pictures of transferee, CLEO signoff, trust if you are going that way along with schedule A (i think is being required). Manufacturer of the suppressor is listed Suppressor can be used on multiple guns. |

Step 1 Go to dealer Step 2 Pick out suppressor Step 3 purchase suppressor Step 4 Dealer fills out Form4 (he should have these) and another citizenship form Step 5 bring form to CLEO get signoff, attach 2 passport photos to Form Step 6 bring completed forms to dealer along with 200 check or mo made out to the treasury step 7 dealer sends info to ATF Step 8 wait and wait for approval I would not fill out anything on your own, let the dealer instruct you on what to do. |
No, the can and the approved Form 4 go to the dealer. You have to wait for the Form 3 (dealer to dealer) transfer. Once the can arrives at your dealer, you'll have all the info you need to complete the Form 4. |
Are you buying from out of state? If so your instate dealer and out of state dealer will need to do a tranfer, (Form 3 in think) then you will need to do a Form4 transfer. You must pick up the can at the instate dealership. I have never done a dealer to dealer transfer so maybe someone else can chime in here to give you some direction if i am not 100% correct |
